The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and bear those pieces from the board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you will be able to move your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and how you move your checkers are decided on by your overall gambling tactics. Enthusiasts use a number of plans in the differing stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game plan is to bring all your checkers into your inside board and bear them off as quick as you can. This technique focuses on the speed of advancing your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The ideal scenario to use this strategy is when you think you can move your own chips quicker than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your chips have past your opponent’s pieces; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary aim of the blocking technique, by the name, is to block your opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces rapidly. After you have created the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can shift your other chips swiftly from the board. The player will need to also have a clear plan when to withdraw and shift the chips that you used for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the opponent uses the same blocking strategy.
